I figured since Im waiting for my LT's to come in the mail. And I allready have my true dual exhaust pieces apart sitting here, should I paint them black? I saw where someone painted theirs with rustoliam paint. I was wondering if I painted them now, if that would be smarter, and allow them to last longer over time?

Ok, since no resposes. If I leave them un painted, you think they will still hold up pretty well? Because they aren't stainless steel.

 

The problem with painting headers is the paint they put on them from the wharehouse is crap. It is just a coating to keep them from rusting. The only correct way if you want the headers to look good and last is to remove all the paint the manafacture sprayed on and recoat them with a good High temp paint.

 

They might be ok. My y-pipe is fine but the underside of my coated LT collector has rust spots. So its really up to you.

I wasnt gunna paint the headers. Because they are Jet Hot Lt's.

I was talking about painting the collector reducers, bullet mufflers, and turndowns. I think I might do it.

 

Paint makes for a cleaner look and helps keep rust down. Can't hurt.
