Shakey idle

So i just did a pulley delete kit from SJM, an electric water pump, an entire new ignition system, new oil pan gasket, new motor mounts, and started the car up. It was idling REALLY bad at first so i went through and checked all of the plugs and wires thoughly. And found that number 5 was not plugged in all the way, plugged it in and started the car up, didnt seem to run differently then all of the sudden was idling better. I have it running on all 8 cylinders now but its still rather shakey at idle. I have a new module, opti, coil, plugs, wires, not really sure whats causing this. I also put on a new timing chain to boot and made sure it was on there right, the car starts up in less then 3 cranks so im sure the timing is on. I do have my y pipe rather loose and u can hear an exaust leak. Would an exaust leak make the knock sensor go that nuts to make the motor not idle? Not sure why i am getting this kind of idle with all new ignition parts. Any ideas would be cool, thanks.

Re: Shakey idle

Anyone know if exaust leaks can cause this kind of idle?

Re: Shakey idle

exhaust leak probably would not. I have had the car diagnosing on a GM scanner running on just manifiolds and it showed that the knock sensor was not picking up and knock. I am dealing with a very similar idle issue and its driving me nuts too.

Re: Shakey idle

I dont know if this will help or not, but my idle has always been shakey in my car until I put a new coil on. Now its smooth as ever..

Re: Shakey idle

I think you didn't connect the spark plug wires right. Make sure all the wires go to the right plug and slot in the opti.
