SES when radiator fans come on?

I just did the electric water pump conversion and Steve's low mount alt bracket which eliminates the Power steering and A/C. (Nice setup , thanks Steve) Now the SES light seems to come on with the radiator fans. Any idea why? I'm gonna get it scanned but I thought someone might be able to give me a suggestion.

Every time there's an SES-setting code set, the fans will stay on for as long as the SES is on.

My guess is that it's setting some A/C codes right now.

That makes sense since the compressor and related components aren't hooked up. And I didn't think it was serious because she feels real strong.

SES just tells you something is wrong... it won't make your car slower...

It can. Not the light obviously but the problem can. I had an SES light that prompted my tearing into the car. The problem was multiple misfires from what I thought was the opti. It turned out to be my crane ignition box. The car is much stronger now and the light comes on at a different time.

Underneath the hood theres the box with the breakers in it, look on your lid and you'll see like a 10 amp fuse that says Oxygen Pump look off the lid then look down and check the actual fuse.

He probably meant AIR (smog) pump.

OK, Thanks. I did also take off the AIR (Smog) pump when I was in there working so I might need to check if I plugged it all back in right. Thanks again.

your cause and effect are all wrong.

cause: unhooked A/C
effect: SES light

cause: SES light
effect: fans run constantly

cause: bad ignition box
effect: misfires and SES

like Ion said... the SES just tells you something is wrong. so if you fix the problem then the SES goes away.. you dont fix the SES light if that makes any sense.

ok turbo_Z, So I've got the SES light coming on now which seems to coincide with the radiator fans. The interesting thing is that the light will go off which leaves me scratching my head. So what do think might be the problem?

well i dont know.. what DTC is showing up? several things can cause SES to come on and go off like you described. the beauty of the PCM is it will store all those codes for you so all you gotta do it check them out with a scanner and problem is a lot closer to being solved.

Don't know of any scan tools that will work on the 95... Just get a cable from Andrew at www.akmcables.com and you can scan the codes with a free program. Go with the crimp style, it's cheaper but works just as good.
