SES - P1361 Help!

I'm getting a P1361 code and I don't know what the solution is. Can anyone help?
My scanning software says it's: Ignition Coil K Primary/Secondary Circuit.
I replaced the coil with a brand new one to no avail. I reset the PCM and the code comes back immediately. Before I replaced the coil, I had a P1641 also, but don't remember what it was as it was sort of vague and probably isn't related to this. I'm not getting any symptoms that I can notice.

Also, what is the black plastic electronic piece connected to the heat sink that I reused? A regulator? Should I replace it?

Thanks in advance,
Rich

Cool

per Helms

turn the ignition off

disconnect the ignition coil module harness

during cranking the voltage on between the ignition coil module harness connector terminal B and ground should be between 1.0 and 4.0 V. If not there is something wrong with the circuit. Repair the open ignition coil circuit.

If OK then

turn the ignition on, engine off

with test light connected to B+ probe ignition module harness connector terminal C. If no light something wrong with ignition coil module ground circuit.

If OK then something is wrong with ignition control module

good luck

someone else can chime in on if what you describe as the black piece is the module because I'm not sure

ICM (ignition control module), methinks.

The AutoTap Code site gives you the best set of OBD-II codes:

P1361 = IC Circuit Low Voltage
P1641 = FC Relay 1 Control Circuit

Gotta agree with Injuneer on the P1641. It's fan control relay 1 control circuit. That is also out of the factory manual.

If you have a manual fan switch and use it when the key is ON, it is common to get the P1641 code.

Cool I was dreading the idea of a new fuel pump. Can you tell me where the fan control relay is located? I don't use a manual fan switch... I have LT1_Edit and set the temps there.

I've got an ICM on order... we'll see if that fixes the 1361 SES.

Thanks again. This board and it's residents is amazing.

The fan control relays are in the underhood electrical center and the cover has a label inside it showing what is where. You can try swapping your fan relay with the fog light relay to see if that corrects your problem. Most of the relays are the same, so it is easy to swap them around for testing.
