SES light really pissin gme OFF!
I have a 96 firebird w/ 66k. I just replaced the water pump, cap and rotor, wires and coil, everything ran good for about a day-I just had my car smogged yesterday, and all of a sudden after work tonight the damn SES light came on--I was like WTF! ANy ideas on what could be going on here? Thanks
When the SES light comes on there is a code in memory. You will have to get the code to have a reasonable place to start diagnosing. If you don't want to buy a scanner, have a shop scan it for you. Also, some auto parts stores offer free scanning.
Yes, the code will have to be pulled. There are no shortcuts on pulling codes on an OBDII car. You need either a code reader or scan tool. A lot of Autozones will pull the codes for free, and give you a printout of how to track the problem.
