SES light and overheating???

I was driving from stoplight to stoplight and the engine was running fine and then the SES light came on. After that the engine started overheating. How can this be related? TIA

Coolant temp sensor failed? Fan relay circuit failed?

Get it scanned.

Thanks. That makes sense. I have a scan tool at home but unfortunately I'm at work right now. I'll check the fan relay and see if I can patch it together so I can get home. Thanks again.

I took a break from work to look at it and found the fuse for the fans had blown. Good call Fred, thanks again.
