Flashing SES = misfire. It's ignition most likely. Try the search button. There are alot of posts on this.

Original plugs and wires? its time to change after almost ten years anyway.

Get the code pulled and see what it says. It will help you more than throwing parts at it.

Misfire.

Bad plugs, burnt *old* wires, or opti issues.

Could be fuel fouling the plugs. What did the plugs look like when you pulled them? Did they smell like fuel??

It's a stretch, but check to see if your water pump is leaking onto the opti via the weep hole.

Come on man, runs crappy you find they are loose. You tighten them and it runs good for a WHILE. Then you replace them (read tighten again)and it runs good for a while. Have you checked to see if any were loose AGAIN?

Tell tail sign is a shhh shhh sound (but not always)while it's running. some un practiced ears hear a ticking sound when actually it's the combustion by products running past the plug.
