service engine light

I have done a search but still haven't been able to find a solution to my problem. My check engine light comes on after the car has been on for about 5 min. and my tempature stays barely right above 160. I know I want my car to run but I know this is not normal for the stock programming for a stock computer. Thanks for any info. Could this be because I have a gutted cat? it was off a year before I got the check engine light.

It can't be directly from the missing cat, since there are no "after-cat" O2 sensors on your 95. But the reduced back-pressure may be enough to trigger the code for a faulty EGR valve. Not common in OBD-I 93-95's, but possible.

But why guess? Get it scanned. That's the whole idea behind the diagnostics, the SES light and the stored codes.

Check your AIR pump fuse. Just a simple shot in the dark.

Like Fred said, get it scanned.

Yes, AIR pump usually triggers about 3-5 minutes after start up. The reason that you car is running so cool is because the PCM will continuously run the fans when ANY fault is found in the system. I'm not entirely sure why they have programmed it to do that, but it is normal. Getting it scanned by someone is the best, and usually in the long run, cheapest way to fix the problem.
