service engine/180deg

its been about 40-60 degrees outside. i have a 160 degree thermostat. my car has been running just barely above the 160degree mark, unless idling for a long time after driving. once idling for a long time, itll get to just below the 185 mark, and the service engine light will come on...
could this be o2 sensors?
is it bad for the engine to run this cold all the time?

Its gotta be something else. I've got a 160* thermo and fans programmed to come on at 190/195 and I still have very hot heat, and never have thrown an ses.
