Did a search and even went to Shoebox's page, but didnt see anything.

Never done it before, what all is needed to do the job? Do i need an impact wrench or will a simple socket do the trick? What all do I have to take off to get easy access to it?

Also what is the part number for that goodyear gatorback belt?

you need a 1/2 inch wrench for the tensioner and thats it simple to do. Sorry not sure the part number..

 

Your parts store will be able to look up the number for you. It's a 13mm bolt head on the center of the belt tensioner pulley that you'll get use to "compress" the tensioner to remove the belt. I use a socket and a long handle ratchet. The belt routing should be on the cover plate of the radiator if you get confused.

 

Hows the access to this area? Anything need to be taken off to get access?

Also, may be a stupid question (and i have a feeling it is), which one is the tensioner?

You can tell I really havent done much work on this area of my car. LOL

 

on the diagram where it shows the pulleys (on the radiator cover) and the route of the belt there will be a smaller one on the bottom left that has an arrow showing which way the pulley swings. just get under the car, put the socket on the bolt and "tighten it," or just turn it clockwise and it will swing down, loosening the tension on the serpentine belt. just remove the belt and put the new one on, making sure you follow the correct way posted on the radiator cover. if it helps, the tensioner pully is about 3.5-4" in diameter. someone correct me if that's not the right size, i dont have one with me right now. good luck!

sweet... figured it would be a dumb question. Thanks a lot guys. Should be a 20 minute job.

 

I guess it should be mentioned that you pretty much have to do this from underneath the car and that with the car sitting at it's normal height you can't get underneath to do it. You need to jack it up or find a curb to park on-that would probably be high enough.

 

Obviously... nothing can be done on these cars from the top or w/o jackin it up. LOL

 

one more question... is there a certain torque setting the tensioner needs to be torqued down to when putting it back together? Just wondering if i need to rent a torque wrench when im picking up the belt.

The tensioner shouldn't come off, just swing in so the belt can fit on. When you let off it with the ratchet the tensioner just goes back into place.

 

Probably take longer to jack the car up than it will to change the belt.

Actually, in the cam removal guide on my site, there is mention of removing the belt and how to do it.
