Serious Questions, please help.

I am currently debating between purchasing the lt1 summit forged engine rebuild kit and rebuilding my engine because it has 160k miles on it or running it with the below setup. I want some opinions on what I should or should not do. I would also throw in either a scat crank or a eagle forged crank.

I currently have the basic mods.. IE: CAI, Exhaust, LT4 KM, 52mm TB.

I will be purchasing the LE2 heads/cam package from lloyd and purchasing the LT Pacesetter Headers "coated".

Either way I will be purchasing those mods. I am curious if I would spin a main bearing if those were installed, and if I did how much more am I looking at throwing into the rebuild from doing so. I am wanting to get to the 11 second club with the assistance of NOS ( going to ask lloyd about the cut on the cam so this will be possible). I am planning on 400HP NA and whatever I get with 150 shot all the better.

There is a well known 03 cobra in town that does 11.48 and I want to atleast get close to his times. I will be looking at a 9" down the road in order to do this. However, I was curious as far as the motor goes what would be the recommendation from fellow members here who have done the same thing I am thinking.

What the hell is NOS? I assume you meant nitrous?

I was going to reccomend a good cast like Scat9000 crank for a cheap rebuild, but if you're considering throwing a 150 shot on there, I think a nice forged crank will give you better piece of mind...

It's hard to say if you'll spin a bearing or not. Maybe you will, maybe you won't. I spun a rod bearing, it took out my cam, couple lifters, etc. I don't knwo if those were worn down already or not...but chances are whatever gets ruined when you spin a bearing will be replaced with something beefier if you're trying to make 600+ ft/lb tq.

You're really going to have to do your homework if you want it to last.

If you want a good price on some internals components give Brian a call or email: www.adperformance.com , great prices and knowledge. You going with a 383?

Heck if you're getting a good set of heads + cam, you should be in the 400+ HP range at the wheels...

If you want to get that fast...putting the car on a diet where you can will go a ways too.

Yeah, I defiantly dont want to be throwing money away on my cam package if a bearing is going to ruin it. I was actually thinking of a 355 with the forged summit rebuild kit, either the scat 9000 crank or the 4340 eagle crank. I only drive the car about 2000 miles a summer. I have the money to get the rebuild done professionaly, but I figure if I can save money by doing it myself then thats money towards my rear end.

Yes, I meant Nitrious.

I guess I will just have lloyd do the heads/cam for me and have them laying around in my garage until I figure what I am going to do. I already have a bunch of parts here for the rebuild. IE: LT4 Heavy Duty Timing Chain set, crome valve covers etc.

www.advancedinduction.com does great LT1 head work too. Check out his work on his page.

I'm not familiar with what's in the "Summit" rebuild kit...make sure it's good stuff though.

The rebuild isn't really what costs money, it's all the damn MACHINE WORK.
