Yes, better to control the motion at the beginning, rather than at the end of travel.

I went to Comp ProMag (7/16 stud) RR's from Crane SA gold RR's (3/8 stud). AFR 190's (I don't think they make these heads now) with AFR rev kit and dual spring set (6800rpm). Had to fab my own guides to align RR's correctly to the valve tappet, and, Proform covers for clearance. Alternate is an Isky adjustable PR guide plate. The Comp's have a larger trunion bearing. (97ss 383 - D1) B.

You already have the hardened pushrods and guide plates. All you need now is the NSA rockers.

FYI: I recently sold a 5 year old set of Comp Cams Pro Magnum self-aligning RR's for $225, and bought a new set of Comp's NSA Pro Magnums for $250.

To all those that posted constructive comments I say Thank you very much, you are a credit to this site and you helped me to learn something that I didn't quite understand before.

To the rest of you I say nobody twisted your arm to read this post. I was always taught that if you have nothing constructive to say then don't say anything at all. I did search this subject and if I would have found my answers I would not have had to post.

Been there, done that. No more SA RRs for this guy. I love old school guide plates.
