Exclamation Self Aligning Crane Gold 1.6 RR's for LE2 setup, or NSA?!---

I already bought some 3/8 (stock size) SELF ALIGNING Crane Gold 1.6rr's for my LE2 setup, but have been reading that its best to go with a 7/16 stud and rockers, with NON SELF ALIGNING ROCKERS and guideplates?! Do you think I will be fine running what I have or should I swap them? They say they are good to a .575 lift .... is that BEFORE the 1.6rr's are used because my cam is close to .575, Thanks ---

NSA Pro Mags are what is recomened and the valvetrain is designed around.

Damn, so its worth selling the gold ones and buying the pro mags huh, even if it costs me over $100 in the process ... or will the gold cranes be acceptable? I heard what you guys said, BUT it didnt really put it in concrete enough for me to make a decision, lol :P ---

I think the Crane Golds will still work with a LE2 setup, I think Lloyd has worked out the interference issue.

If you do try those in SA you will need to pay close attention to slot clearance/pushrod legnth. GM speced less clearance than the true Crane and if you got a set of GMPP ones instead it could be a problem.

If you are going to build up an engine, why have that shadow of doubt in the back of your mind about rockers? NSAs are what I would run, especially with an LE2, that you know is going to see some high RPMs. The valvetrain is too critical to skimp on.

I agree with the above posts. I run a smaller CC503 with a .536/.544 lift but still oppted for the NSA Pro Mags and guide plates with my LE2 heads. Why skimp with the valve train. Could cause major headaces in the long run.

I am running Crane Gold NSA (narrow body for center bolt VC ), 1.6 on a LE1e cam LE2 heads setup. The the lift is up there as well .550 plus some. I saw no clearance problems when trail fitting everything on assembly.

Thanks guys....I guess the reason I was trying to get away with it is the fact I have to sell the crane golds , before I can buy any others. Its all just a time game I guess, and I should be patient ---

***This is going to be a daily driver....do the NSA rockers require maintenance??? ---

***Does anyone know off hand if I can use the crane 1.6's in my 91 4.3 v6 on my Syclone??? ---

As long as it came stock with SA rockers they should work fine. The only thing I would be worried about would be if the springs could handle the extra lift. You might be able to use a set of LT4 hot cam springs for a cheap way out.

Re: Self Aligning Crane Gold 1.6 RR's for LE2 setup, or NSA?!---

I have a 396 stroker with the Comp XFI cam and I'm turning around 6500 RPM. I'm also running the Crane Gold self aligning 1.6 RRs. Considering I'm only turning 6500, I decided to stay with the self aligning (SA).

Possibly at the higher PRMs (7000 +) the guide plates and non-SAs would have benifit. However, at my RPM range I feel comfortable retaining the SAs.

I'm also running 3/8" Crane custom length (7.160") push rods along the SA RRs.
