Secyrity light (did a search already!)

I already did a search for this and did not find my answer.....

i shut my car off, then 2 minutes later went to start it again and the security light came on and it won't start.

before everybody jumps to the VATS system, let me say my VATS is disabled already through programming.

i cleaned my key anyway with alcohol and it changed nothing. i also locked/unlocked the doors with the keyfob and it did nothing. i had to disconnect the battery to get the light off, and when i put the key back in it came back on. i also tried 2 different keys....
the security light is not flashing, it is constant....any ideas?

Odd, mine does the same (light) and I disabled VATS recently, but the car still runs after 2 months.

It ran when VATS was enabled, too. Just thought I'd play it safe until i could figure it out.

Programming it out does not seem to get rid of the problem (I had the same problem on mine as well). My security light was on for like 2 years, then one day after working on the stereo it would not start anymore. The security light would flash a couple times, then stay solid. Tried programming it out, no go. So I just ripped the VATS relay module out and rewired the ignition system without the VATS in the loop. The module is on the right side of the glove box, you can see the little gray plastic holders sticking out. Push them in, reach around, pull out the relay module, cut the wires. Then connect the purple and brown wires together (do not wire the purple and yellow, unless you want your car to be able to start with the transmission in gear!). Then, to get rid of the annoying light, pull the bulb out of the dash for the security light.

Do you have an alarm? Try the valet switch.

glad to hear that the car is running again! I dont understand why it happened like that. We didnt even mess with anything that could have set the security light.

I think I might be able to get my hands on a laptop so I dont have to keep bothering you about my car.
