Security light fix

I know a lot of people have had this problem. I had it too, but was able to disable VATS using TunerCat for the time being. Anyway, I got fed up with the light and decided to take care of it. So I measured the resistance of my key pellet and went looking for the matching resistor. Once under the dash, I unplugged the connector attached to the two very small white wires with orange casing that run up the column and tucked it away. Then I jammed the resistor into the other part of the connector running to the VATS module, making sure the pins were wedged between the metal and plastic securely. Threw some electrical tape over it to hold tight, and buttoned things back up. Sure enough, about 60 seconds after starting the car, the light went out. Been fine since! No need to solder or otherwise permanently modify your beloved F-body. This is no more difficult than disabling CAGS for you M6 guys.

I actually got the resistor in the electronics shop at work. But you can find them at any RadioShack or other electronics parts store (not Circuit City or Best Buy types). I've read that you need to match the resistance within 10ohm so make sure you get something very close. I was able to locate an exact match.

Thumbs up vats

I want to thank everyone on the vats problem...my 95 would not start one day,so i read all the things posted on here about "vats".I went to radio shack ,and got the resistor, hooked it up to the two wires ,and it started up with no problem ..sure beats going to the dealer and spending $500.00 to get the whole thing replaced.. thanks again

If you ever want to share some images with everyone, I have an "image upload" section in my site that is easy enough to use.

http://www.technologyorgasm.com/upload/

Just follow the directions.
