Yes that seal on the splined gear drive that runs the w/p. If i want to replace it i probably need to just cut the old one off correct? Then slip the new one on. Coupler that went over it looked redish rusty in color, with some red powdery residue. Changed opti, plugs, wires, now wrapping it up to get it moving again.
You should be able to see a small indention where you can get a small screw driver (regular) in to pop the old seal out. I believe I hammered the screw driver down that slot and into the seal to get a grip on it. The slot is circled.

Here is a thread that may help. Ripping the new seal on installation is quite common, so pay attention to that part.
Seal pops out with a flat tip screwdrive as shown above.
This is how I replace the seal.
Clean the drive coupler up nice and smooth and grease it. Slide the seal on the coupler, put the coupler on the shaft then slide the seal into the timing cover. Piece of cake.

Great advice guys, thank you so very much. Shoebox that's a great thread, I did'nt know the wp seal was the little o ring type and the round seal flush with the timing chain. I got to tell you, without you knowledgeable guys, site and board , I'm not so sure I would be almost done by now. Pics help immenseley.
