seafoam too often?

Is there such a thing as using Seafoam too often? I did it for the first time last November and was thinking of doing it again sometime soon. Is there a recommended time interval or does it really matter?

I'd say no more than once every 5,000 miles...I don't think it'd hurt but it'd just be overkill...like changing your spark plugs with every oil change.

Just now got back to this thread, thanks for the replies and yes I did feel a difference. However, it doesn't take long to get used to it.

i've been reading a few topic on seafoam and just wondering about some people having concern over o2 sensors. is it really something to worry about? or very unlikely that damage will happen?

also how much to replace o2's if any would happen. thanks guys

I didn't run into any issues with my O2's when I did this. Although there is the risk it could happen. Not sure on how much the O2's run, but I believe they are in the neighborhood of $35 a piece.

I just seafoamed my girlfriend's car. It sputtered and is hesiating badly. Not the fault of the seafoam. With all of that smoke coming out of the exhaust, I found a massive leak at the collector. Not good and I was getting smoked out...

I think I just found another project for this weekend.

Its all chance with the O2's, my car has 158,000 miles on it and I seafoamed the engine for the first time about 1,200 miles ago and no problems. I know that this was the first time that it was done. The last owner was an older guy that never did anything to the car, except fluids and tires. In fact thanks for reminding me, the O2s probably have never been changed as well, hmm a new project for me too.... Thanks

I just used Seafoam a few weeks ago--and I have had some problems. Right after I used it, I started getting an SES light. I scanned it and got a Code 44 and 64 (Lean Exhaust Indicated on left and right O2 sensors.) Not sure if the Seafoam crapped out both of my sensors or if it's something else.

Just seafoamed my lt1 last night and it only took liek 20 minutes, a $2 bottle of seafoam from smyth automotive, a $1 funnel, and a piece of tubing from a fish tank cleaner. I was smoking really bad. When i took off up my street you couldnt see anything behind me. It was like i was just sittin there white smokin or somethin but the car seems to smell a little better when it sits in the garage. Ill drive around today some and let you guys knows if i find any problems. I think i have a slight leak in my exhaust...ill get some pics posted of that in a few and maybe get some imput

You should cut back on the smokin'... jk. Anyways, a $2 can of seafoam is a deal! Napa Auto in Cali charges $8 a can! Ouch!

If you get O2 sensor, go with manufacturer only.

when i got my car in december, i ran about a can a tank of sea foam through it for about 3 tanks worth. It helped out quite a bit. My dad has ran seafoam through all his cars for a few years now and it's working great. I have never heard anything about it screwing up the O2 sensors and i don't think that's a major issue very often. I like to run the seafoam through about every 3 months.
