'Scuse me, may I cut in (or out)?
I posted a few weeks ago about the car having a "flutter" at low RPMs (between 1100-2000). I replaced the TPS sensor. It seemed to "calm" the flutter a little bit, but not entirely.
Everything was cool until this morning. The car was running really good, and felt really strong.
I went to start the car this morning, and as usual, everything was fine. I had the car running for all of about 5 minutes, most of that time sitting at a red light. Then, all of a sudden, all hell broke loose. The idle all of a sudden became very erratic, and the needle jumped up and down a few times, and then the car stalled.
I obviously tried to start the car again, and it did start, but the idle was still on the erratic side. It also sounded like there was a "pinging" sound or something from what sounded like it was coming from the rear of the car.
I started the car later in the day, and drove it around a little bit. I didn't experience the problem again, but I was obviously pretty shook up about what happened this morning. At highway speeds the car ran fine, and even when coming to a stop it seemed ok. When I was stopped, the idle was a bit choppier than usual, however the needle seemed to stay pretty "level" (at about 500rpm).
I picked up a new MAP sensor and installed it immediately. It seems to have "sort of" fixed the rough idle, but not entirely. Could this be my EGR failing? Fuel pump? Clogged fuel filter?
Any help would be great.
