screeching noise
screeching noise
I have a 95z28 and it is making a screeching noise (kinda like a chain draging the ground), after I bring the car to a stop and then start moving again. It tends to stop after I get up to about 40-50 mph. It does make the noise when I stop the car, but it is not really that bad until I get off the brakes and start moving again. Also it does not do it in reverse. Any help is greatly appreciated
What kinda gears you have? ive heard if you install like 3.73s they make noise. You should check your diff fluid, and go ahead and do a diff fluid change while you're at it.
Im not sure, im sure someone else will chime in...

Also when i push the brakes the noise is constant but when I let off them the noise is intermittent and gets less frequent as I speed up until it stops. It will do it randomley if i am on the freeway but only for a few seconds then it stops
I would not suspect it to be the diff in this case. I would check your axle bearings on this one. Your really not moving fast enough in reverse to actually hear a screaching noise. When your going forward at a somewhat moderate speed the bearings heat up and thats where I would suspect the noise to be coming from. I would get someone to listen for a scraping noise while moving the car slowly so you can pin point which side its coming from. The only way I would think it would be the diff is if your hearing a loud whining noise while driving. Good luck
I just looked at your new post while I was writing this reply. If thats the case check your brake pads and rotors. If the brakes get to low they can scrape a steady line in your rotors. If it's only doing it for a few seconds your rotors may be warped.
