if it really only has 1100 miles on it i would say it would be worth 10k probably at least depending upon how well it was fixed. The worst thing about buying a fbody if you have plans to mod it is miles cause if it is a higher mileage one you always have to wonder if it is safe to do heads and cam or other internal mods.

Got my 94 a year and 1/2 ago and payed then $5995.

Ofcourse it has a lot more mileage on it but it has never been wrecked or even so much as scratched. With the one your talking about with salvage on the title, I wouldn't pay anymore than $4000.00 for it. I've seen a lot of hidden frame damage. If he'll let you, take it to a good alignment shop before you buy it to see if they can align it.

It depends.

There's a sucker born every minute.

The car really isn't worth sh*t with a salvage title, though..

I heard a regular rule of thumb was salvage title means 10% of blue book value. You may be betting a killer deal but there may be gremlins in it and when you try and resell it you'll be hard pressed to find a buyer. I would tell this guy to part out the car. He'll end up getting more money that way.

Once that Salvage title gets slapped onto the Car. The car never worth ANYTHING close to what it was or could be, 1,100 Miles with no salvage would have been a rare find. I wouldnt expect anyone to pay more then 5k b/c of that title. Try re-selling it and it wont be as easy. But then again only 1,100 miles..

hmmm but thats true about parting it out, that would be the best solution if he tries to sell it.

Here is a different perspective. I bought and fixed up a Black 1996 TA convertible that now has a salvage title. Most of the damage was on the right rear quarter and passenger door. The frame is straight as an arrow. I used only genuine new and used GM parts. Most new parts I bought from Jason Cromer. The used parts I got from Billy Grahams salvage. The car looks and drives great. I have already had offers from people to buy it at or above blue book and I am not even trying to sell it! It really depends on the job done and parts used for the repairs.

My brother is in the business of buying and fixing salvaged cars and people just use the salvage title as a bargaining chip it really is specific to the car you are looking at. People are hesitant at first to look at the cars but after they see them and drive them they are ok with it.

Since I am now in the place of where I own the car with a salvage title I wouldn't give the car away for just any price. I would only accept blue book or above. Just my .02

I know what your saying, butto get a salavge title in you really need to have done some damage. Even the best still miss something or mess up in repairs... Imagine a weak weld, you and your kid in the car and the bad weld is in his area and you get hit and he dies.. Don't care what you put into it to the majority ofthe world slavagetitle =s no money from normal folk.

I wouldnt give more then 6 grand for the car. I personally have a salvage title on my Z. For those of you who have never seen it up close, you would never know that it was hit. Salvage title dosent mean the car is dangerous to drive or fix. It simply means that the value of the car to repair was over 80% of the total value of the car. It is strictly a insurance ploy to save money. Kills me how many people think salvage is such a bad thing. I have never had a problem selling a salvage vehicle, and I promise I wouldnt have a hard time selling my Z. Offer him 6 grand...if he says no, walk away. You can buy one and fix it for less.

I think it all depends on whether or not the frame was bent. If it was, then the car is never going to be the same. The only way that I would buy this car is if I do not plan on selling it. If that were the case, the first think that I'd do is put in a 10-point rollcage, just to make sure that the frame is straight, and to eliminate any weak spots. After that, hey it's only got 1100 miles sooo.......
