Safety Gear!

I was really excited last night about running my 94 z28 vert for the first time, and when I got to the track...apparently I need a rollbar, helmet, and arm restraints, since I have a convertible. I guess it's sensible though...better safe than sorry, right? I've coincidentally been looking at this rollbar for a few weeks now:

Any recommended arm restraints or helmets? (I just want something fairly cheap that gets the job done!)

I haven't run it before, but I'd expect something in the mid to high 14's. Other drivers don't need helmets and additional safety equipment unless they're faster than 14.00 seconds, but convertible drivers need practically everything, regardless of time.

13.5 is the ET that causes your convertable to have to have a certified roll bar.

So going strictly by NHRA or IHRA, you don't need the bar if your running slower than that.

But.
The track may have their own rules. Call them on the phone and get details. It may be that they made a mistake or just figured your car was whicked fast.

Also, if you do get that bar from RK sprot, make sure it conforms to the NHRA or IHRA rule book.

oops sorry, I was mistaken. NHRA is 13.99 for roll bar on a convertable.
