?S on Rocker Install
?S on Rocker Install
Well last night I got some 1.6rrs, and me and a couple friends are going to install them. How long should this take its just the rockers, no springs untill i get a cam. Also do I HAVE to take off all of this; altenator, trans. dip, brake booster vacum hose, and air injection fitting to get the v-covers off, or can I just pull the valve covers off meticuously (cant belive i just used that word, I dont even think i spelt it right
) Also if anyone has any other input please tell me ohh... the rockers are self-aligning.
thanks in advance
Sean

you only have to take off the alt. to get pass. side off. and the brake boster vac. line only. for the dr. side. make sure you take the ground off the battary before doing any of this. do you know how to adj. the rockers?if not let us know hope this helps Sean
Thanks for the info. I have no clue how to adjust them, but my friends dad has done it before, and he will tell us what to do but I would like to know before hand how to adjust the rockers.
thanks

Springs
I'm pretty sure you HAVE to change the spring when upgrading to a larger ratio rocker arm. I believe they cause spring binding. Springs are cheap, anyway. I'm not 100% sure on this, but I thought I've read about it. Other opinions?
You really should change your springs while you're in there-the 1.6 rockers are going to make your factory springs come VERY close to coil bind. Changing out the rockers isn't difficult, just make sure you don't adjust the valves too tight.
Lift
Check the lift spec of your cam. I think the CC305 is around .500. Buy your springs to handle the .500 lift. When you buy springs, that number is listed. The best thing to do would be to call Competition Cams and see which they recommend. They'll be more than happy to steer you in the right direction.
