?'s regarding Magnaflow catback????

Just received a mMagnaflow catback for my stock 1997 z28. This is a nice piece of work. Looks great! Only problem I am seeing with installing this is the "s" pipe does not look like it will connect to my exhaust. I have 2 pipes that come into a "Y" pipe (fully welded) but nowhere do I see a place to connect the "s" pipe. I cvannot disonnect the "y" that is after my cat.

Has anyone else had this problem?

The magnaflow part # is 15620, is this an incorrect part number for a 1997 z28?

I am left scratching my head on this one. I thought this was a "bolt on deal".

Need suggestions how to install this exhaust.

Thanks,

Re: ?'s regarding Magnaflow catback????

the 93-95 cars are single cat, and require the S pipe to connect to the cat, and the 96-97 cars being dual cat, has the shorter I pipe, so you just dont use the S pipe that comes in the kit, since the kit is designed for all 93-97 cars.

Cool I will go and look at the I pipe. Another situation arises I think,.

If the I pipe is 3" and my stock pipe is smaller in dia. will clamps that com with the kit be enough?

Magnaflow catback is installed and what a difference it is.

Thanks to Makaveli for curing my brain fart about the pipes not matching per instructions by explaining what pipes are used for what year model. kudos.

Boy I must say this catback is AWESOME sounding and a SOTP difference.!!! Why did I not do this sooner??

If this is what only the catback does then I cannot wait until headers and y pipe are installed.

I anticipate going to the track and seeing if a difference shows up on e.t.
Maybe.

Anyways, just thought I would at least post my boasts about my little upgrade.

Later,

I hate to derail the thread, but since it looks like the original questions was answered, I'm gonna take a stab at it anyway.

Did you guys encounter and problems with the stock hangars? My driver's side of the exhaust is much higher than the passenger's side. Did any of you encounter this? And how should I go about dealing with it?

Thanks in advance.

Re: ?'s regarding Magnaflow catback????

RoadRocket: Was thinking about a magnaflow catback myself cause i've heard good things about them as far as performance and sound go, but the only thing i'm not sure about is the tips.

I'm kinda attached to the look of the quad tips, like on the borla system. So i was wondering if you could take some pics of the back of your car with your cat-back on (just on the ground) and post them so I could see how they look when the exit the back if the car.

Thanks,
Ryan

i did have a hanger issue. the new stuff on the magnaflow would have worked but.... since i had access to a welder at the time it was easier to cut the stock hangers off the american thunder and weld them to the magnaflow. since i was relocting the hangers they of course fit perfect.
