Rust in cylinders

Ive had the engine sitting around for a year and a half, and there is rust in the cylinders, whats the proper way of fixing that problem, can i just clean it up with something, or do i have to take it and have it honed and clean up and stuff. Thanks for your input, Paul

Honing shouldnt be expensive. Just to Advanced Auto, buy a Hone and connect it to your power drill.

Try engine oil and a rough cloth. It really depends on how much exposure it got.

Its how the Haynes manual does it! You just have to get the cross hatches on the cyl walls at 50*to 60* angles.

I have trouble driving a screw in straight let alone an hone into a cylinder, lol. I just don't trust myself with something that important...

Light rust can be removed with Marvel Mystery oil, coat the walls, let sit for a day, wipe clean. Heavy rust usually means, pull it down and hone.
