running rich...
i have a 95 Z with all mods in sig...my car has been running "fat" "rich" or whatever you want to call it over the past month. first off i tried that 4.7 ohms resistor thing on the iat (didnt work for me)actually when i took it off it seemed to run better?! i then cleaned that iat and maf with carb cleaner, just sprayed half a can on each and let it dry. but my intake and maf and iat back together and started it up, and took it for a trip no better if so just a tad...under full throttle then i let all the way off real fast, it would back fire through the exhaust, and go on about its business.
so i borrowed my buddies stock ls1 mass air flow sensor for about a week and everything seems to be running top notch! now he needs it back...so do you think my maf was going bad?
any input would be sweet!
thanks steve.

Did the combination you list(all the parts at the same time) in your signature ever work correctly? If it did for how long? Have you tried unhooking your MAF and see how it runs without it? Have you scanned the sensors to see what they are reading?
You should look at the data from the sensors to see if they are within tolerance or what is going on.

I know it sounds like a MAF problem but in my case it could also be Lazy O2's. Have you checked how many times your 02's crossover from lean to rich at fast idle? (2k rpms) They are supposed to cross over at about 4 times per second on SFI engines. mine crossover at about 1 time per second.
Only because your car runs good with another MAF I am suspecting its either your MAF connections or your MAF itself being your problem. Have you reconnected your old MAF again and tested it for bad connections? I have heard the connector develops bad connections. Check your 02's crossover readings too and like slopo said your other sensors too before investing on a new MAF.

im sorry...it was running rich with my stock mass air flow sensor, so i put my buddies descreened ls1 maf on it, and it ran great!...as far as o2 sensors go i replaced both of them about 5,000miles ago, so i dont think thats my problem, im going to try another maf today and see if that once again cures my problem.
i wiggled all the connections and sprayed them down good with electrical connecter cleaner stuff, and all seems to be good. and yes the stock ls1 maf is identical to my stock one and plugs up the same?
thanks for your input,
steve
p.s. can i drive my car with the maf unplugged in speed density mode?

Made no sense. I didnt know the LS1 MAF was identical. Is it cheaper?
