Running with no oil.
Running with no oil.
I knew I had a bad oil leak. Low oil light was one for abour 2 days and on the second day the car starts to run bad as if there was no compression. I turn it off right away, only ran like that for about 30 seconds. Check the oil and there is about 1 quart left, so put in 4 quarts. Car still runs bad, as if there is no compression. When I step on the gas, it wants to stall out. If I go to wot the car chuggs. There is no smoke blowing out the rear so rings are fine and there is no knocking noises. What can cause it to run so bad?
Yes, I know it was stupid to drive with low oil, but I thought I could dive to the auto store and buy some oil. Besides that, is the motor toast? Like I said before, no knocking and no smoke out the rear. The car also idles nice and smooth untill you hit the gas.
My Dad did this to my Mom's Caddy before I knew anything about engines, in hindsite I wonder if the problem there and here is colapsed lifters, and knocking causing severe timing retard. I think it highly likely you did serious damage, just trying to guess as to why it will not rev up. I would seriously worry that if it did rev it would end catastrophically, like rod through the block.
The leak is coming from the front of the timing cover, there is a rudder piece. The car will rev all the way up to 6000+ rpms, but it just takes some time to get there. My guess is that Im losing compression A) cylinder walls are damaged B) The PCM is just stuck im some kind of outrageous timing retard. Im very unfimiliar with emgine diagnostics. Tomorrow morning Im getting a compression test done.
And yes Im aware of the stupidity of driving the car for 2 days with low oil.

No ses lights. I took it out for a drive and it seems as if the tranny is not hooked up to engine. What I mean is that the rpms go up fine at wot , but it seems as if there is nothing going through the drivetrain. Also when the clutch is out that slapping noise that use usaully here is
a hell of lot louder, but goes away as soon as I put in gear.
One more thing that I thought of..........I did put in 4 quarts of oil and stp oil treatment, could I have to much oil causing the low compression
symptoms?

I have a friend with a f150 that had an oil pump going bad, and he was driving up a good incline of a hill for about 3 miles. It starts knockin and what does he do, floor it so it would get up the hill faster and not knock for so long. Luckily he coasted enough down the hill to pull in to a goodyear, $3500 later and a turd of a truck with a even more turd jasper engine. He couldnt get $4500 for the truck if he wanted to sell it. It is a two wheel drive with a 3 inch body lift and a 3 inch sus lift with 35 inch discoverys.

If you need a motor, let me know, we'll work something out.
