Running Leaded Gas??

I don't have o2 sensors or cats at this point and I normally run 104 gas but they are all out locally and I got a couple runs lined up for tonight. Next best thing I can get is 110 leaded so as long as Im not running o2's and CATS is there ANY other affects that it could have on my engine? Valves, pistons, injectors, any clogging of the fuel filter ETC??

thanks

Are you running a S/C or turbo or nitrous or really high compression? Can you manulally adjust your timing? If so, I don't see any real reason why 104 wouldn't be just fine for a normal compression, N/A motor.

it's not that I can't run 104 it's just that they are all out and I need something in a hurry and at this point 110 is my only option!

I always thought Leaded gas is safe to run as long as your not running a cat.

Re: Running Leaded Gas??

I can't imagine anything that running leaded gas is gonna kill. You've already 86'ed the cat and the O2's, so your basically a normal motor at this point. You already have hardened valve seats, so run it and have fun!

OBTW, I have no cats, I DO have O2's, and I've put prolly 10 (total) tanks of C16 through my motor with no ill effects. I would imagine that my O2's arent very happy with me right now, but I've got more when they die, so no biggy to me.. I would rather have the timing advance at the track and just replace the O2's when they fail...

problem is with leaded gas the O2's don't just go out, they just get lazy. Our cars have heated O2 sensors which resist lead fouling better, but the sensors will still go eventually. Since you don't have O2's or cats your fine.

So it's not gonna puck up my valves or rings or fuel filter or any kinda crap like that then right?

From what I've read and been told...The lead in the fuel messes up your o2's and clogs up your cat's...

Just curious to why you think you need 110 or 104 octane. Is this a mostly stock motor or something pretty wild? Why not just get 93 and throw an octane booster in as well? Im not trying to be a smart a$$, just wondering.

Well I run a 9.68 at the track so if you think a mostly stock LT1 will run that then your right I don't need race gas

Nah man I got all kinds of crap done and I have to have race gas for high boost and spray!

Gotcha I get it now, I know my car runs like crap on 92 or less with 12 to 1, I usually get 93 and an octane booster. Thats a killer time though, wish mine could do that.
