Rubber or steel head gaskets?

I finally got the heads pulled off of my 94' camaro z28 and noticed that i had rubber head gaskets. I've heard a few bad things about using the rubber gaskets for internal engine parts and I was wondering if I would be better of buying a set a steel head gaskets instead of the rubber one?

I agree sounds like you are talking valve cover gaskets which are silicon and a very good gasket. I have never bought one, always reused never had a leak.

Some people swear by the rubber gaskets and some will say stay away. It's
difficult to say which way to go - I'd say it's a coin toss.

For the rest of folks that have been making comments that the OP can't
be talking about rubber head gaskets, you're showing your young age

For anyone in disbelief, many folks run the FelPro 1094 gasket. Don't
believe it, google "felpro 1094" or go to Summit Racing and check it out.

Aren't they actually rubber coated steel?

It's just not "rubber" in the traditional sense (like valve cover gaskets). It is a rubber/fiber coating.
