rough idle?? popping backfire..

rough idle?? popping backfire..

I have a 95 z28 with some problems i cant seem to figure out...ive had a few people tell me the rough idle is coming from the o2 sensor but yet i still have a hesitation around 2000rpm when i first try to give it gas, but as i increase the gas it takes off just fine....can anyone help me??? thanx alot

uh oh

ok sounds like optis goin out i got new coil new plugs new iat sensor none of them fixed, then i did the opti presto it was fixed running like new...i diagnosed it with a scanner first though but I had identical symptoms as you.

Do you have an exhaust leak? That can cause your symptoms.

Opti-sparks can be expensive (relative term). Contact Jason Cromer and order your part from him to get a good price. I've seen them between the $275-$350 range.

Before I would replace the opti, I would recommend checking your plugs and wires. Keep It Simple.

At night, go to a really dark area without street lights and start your car. While in the dark, open the hood and wait about a minute or two to adjust your eyes. If you see sparks, then something is arcing from your plug wires to a ground. Sparks around the plugs are bad too... replace those plugs.

Remember, a blue corona haze is typically normal around a plug. You're looking for blue lightning sparks.
