Unhappy Rough idle and loud poping noise. Help

well it started this morning. I heard a noise that sounded like maybe an exhaust leak. So as I go home the noise is still there but now im getting a very rough stumble while crusing @ aorund 1500 rpm's as I release the gas and brake a loud pop comes from the cutout like backfire but very loud. this happens all the way home.i checked all the plugs and wires thinking something is loose and everythings fine. As I listen I hear a ticking noise coming from the drivers side valve cover area and I give it a little gas and another loud pop came from the cutout as it backfired. I need some help guys. Im kinda scared to drive it cause I dont want to f it up any more.

I broke a valve spring and it had very similar problems. Pull the cover off side with the tick and check for a loose rocker arm.

Might wanna check around the plugs while the car is running... You might have cross threaded a plug, leaving a small gap between the plug and the head. (There's you exhaust leak sound.) Don't ask how I know this.
