rough idle, backfiring, fuel injectors

What should happen when injector pigtails are pulled off while idling? Pulled passenger Sides off one by one with no change in idle. Every one on drivers side made the engine want to die. Car backfires while sitting and after revving. Engine shakes also. I was wiggling passenger side pigtails and the idle got better and no backfiring for just a little then started again

There was a chunk of old gasket behind the throttle body. Idle is better but its just popping sitting idling.

Did you scan it for codes? There is a code for the injector circuits. Did you check the two injector fuses? Verify that (key on) you have 12V at the pink wire in each injector harness connector. Use a 'noid light to verify the PCM is sending ground pulses to fire the injectors.
