Rotating Assemblies

Does it matter what rotating assembly i get for my LT1? will any SBC rotating assembly work or do i need to get one that is LT1 specific?

Thanks

The crank will need to have a 1-piece rear seal.

Well, you need to decide on internal v. external balance, compression ratio, rod length, type of materials, etc. But nothing else unique to an LT1.

Unless you know exactly what you are doing, it's usually best to buy the entire rotating assy. as a unit. This often saves a few bucks, but more importantly you know everything will fit together! Unless you are assembling the motor yourself, ideally the shop doing the work should buy the parts. That way, there is no question who is responsible for what.

Re: Rotating Assemblies

Just a heads up...

Some folks will tell you that you can run other than an LTx crank in your LT1.
Technically, this is true, but in reality it creates more work that you and/or your machine shop needs to do and more stuff you need to buy.
I suppose that there could be unusual circumstances where you might not care, but in general; if anyone suggests running a non-LTx crank in your engine, just tell them no thanks.

Re: Rotating Assemblies

LT1 are just cut differently for the lighter pistons that come stock. LT4 cranks are also lighter, but have different fillets.

THERE ARE NO LTX SPECIFIC AFTERMARKET CRANKS!
