Rotating Assemblies

Been doing quite a bit of research lately concerning Strokers and I've pretty much decided to go with a complete forged bottom end. Might be overkill for my application as it stands. But here is what I've come up with:

Eagle System
4340 forged Crank 3.75
4340 6.00 H-Beam Rods
JE/SRP Pistons
Rings and Bearings
2000.00 Balanced

SCAT System
4340 Crank 3.75
4340 Scat H Beam Rods
Probe Pistons
Rings and Bearings
1950 Balanced

Callies Dragonslayer
Callies Crank
Callies Pro I-Beam Rods
JE/SRP Pistons
Rings Bearings
2200 Balanced

Talked with a number of shops. All thought that Callies was good stuff, but a couple didn't have great things to say about Eagle. The one guy told me that if he layed a forged SCAT crank next to a forged Eagle crank that I'd pick the SCAT crank 9 time out of 10.
Also hadn't really heard that much about Probe pistons, but one guy who is was very helpful told me that quite a few racers are running probes and that it will soon be the largest Piston retailer. He also told me that the Probes are made out of the same material as the JE/SRP Pistons and the Probe is the only one where in a 6.00 rod application that the pin doesn't intersect a ring land.

Other general comments. Quite alot of these places have people answering the phone that shouldn't be. I mean arrogant, talk down to you and have the personality of a bent beer can. I wonder if they realize how much business it costs them - they'd be better off not answering the phone.

I'm kind of leaning towards the SCAT system although it seems like the Callies stuff is great as well, you just pay for it. I was also told that a Callies Crank is right now about a six week wait.

Anyways love to hear any comments.

Any of those will be a killer setup. I'd order the unbalanced kit and let your machine shop/builder balance everything. I've got a few snapshots of my eagle forged kit with JE pistons in my sig that you can check out if you want.

Oh, and I only paid $1600, not $2k.

Based on the parts I have seen & used... I'd choose the scat stuff over eagle - it may end up being even cheaper after you pay to balance the assy. as well. Either should work though

I haven't ever ran Probe's or seen their product in person however...

I KNOW THOSE BEER LADEN ALCHOHOLICS that answer the phone at machine shops just makes you want to smack them. I had a similiar experience with comp cams yesterday some hick gets on the phone and starts seriously yelling at me i was like excuse me biotch i just want to pieces of information and thats it. But anyway i guess it just pisses me off that they gotta be plain *******s on the phone seriously. just my .02 cents
