Roots Type Blower for LT1s?

Any company ever try making a roots type blower for our cars?

Replace the hole intake manifold with a blower.

What was the problem? Hood clearance?

ROOSTER93V8 is in the process of doing this with an M112. I'm sure you'll find this thread interesting.

interesting thread. but as easy and cheap as he's making it seem, it still sounds like a lot of time/money to make something like that work, at least to me.

and it's certainly not practical for those of use who drive our cars everyday and dont have "spare" intakes lying around.

Just a little info for you he does drive his car everyday. He also drive a 4 hour (or more) round trip every weekend. Rooster is cool and he has this thought out pretty well. By the way sometimes you can pick up a "spare" intake for 50 bucks.

im not saying anything on the guys character, im sure he is cool. and yea, i guess if you have a spare intake, you could keep driving your car. but with only one intake, it doesnt work.

the cheapest i've seen a used intake for was about 100-150 bucks on this website. and i dont know about where you are, or the 'hook ups" you might have, but around here, fabbing and/or machine work isn't cheap.

it sounds like a good idea, in theory. and if it works out and is tried and proven, and possibly ended up being massed produced for around the same price he's talking about, i'll be the first in line.

you must understand, one of the reasons that you pay 2,5-4k for a namebrand blower is that it HAS been professionally designed and is manufactured to last and is a quality build. the company has already done all of the "trial and error", all you have to do is bolt it up.

im all for the creative and "homebuilt" ideas that guys are out there trying, and i applaud them. but for me (age and income) i just dont have the means to invest time and money into a prototype/experiemental project. but for those that do, keep the good ideas comin'!!
