Re: Which Roller Rockers ???

if you are going with a custom cam, just have them grind the extra lift in there and stick with something like a 1.52 rocker. the smaller the rocker the less stress on the stud...

Re: Which Roller Rockers ???

Hawk ~ The only thing keeping me from 1.52's now is that I wont be camming it for probly around another 2 years. I want to get the heads ported/polished that will work great with a blower. Im planning on most likely doing an intercooled D1SC, on a all forged 383, at between 10 and 12 lbs of boost. I wont be bale to afford this for quite some time as im in college still, so for right now im looking for the best bang for the buck. I fully intend on having a custum cam ground for it, and would like to do the 383, heads, cam, and blower all at the same time that way I can have all the parts matched to each toehr for the best possible combination that will still be somewhat streetable .

That said, since it would be a while, wouldnt 1.6 NSA Pro Mags be the best bang for the buck? And still be plenty strong enough for forged/blown/383 ...

It all depends on how you want your can to be set-up really. As I take it, using the 1.7's allow you to use a less agressive cam=less lope===more like a sleeper. I'm not sure what you mean unneeded stress on it? A 7/8 stud should keep it pretty stable.

Anyone see they are using 1.85 rokers on the GTO's now?

The higher the ratio, the more stress on the valvetrain, that what I was getting at. 1.7's can throw off the geometry some, and even with 7/16" studs, I'd think that it would be less stable than 1.6's with a blower cam. I also am liking the fact that the Pro Mags are warrentied for life, well the body is anyways ... and their rebuildable.
