Exclamation which roller rockers

Hi I got a 97 z lt1 Im getting the competition cams 503 installed with the comp cams high performance ls1 valve springs
* Advertised duration: 276 intake/281 exhaust
* Duration at .050 in.: 224 intake/230 exhaust
* Gross valve lift: .503 in. intake/.510 in. exhaust
* Lobe separation: 112 degrees
* RPM range: 1,800 to 5,800
what I need to know if I should get 1.6 or 1.5 roller rockers
and from which manufacturer. Also I'm going to buy a set of headers I also would like opinions on which manufacturer...Thanks

1.6 will give you more lift .536/.544. Comp cam pro mags are the most popular choice around here and its what i reccomend. As for headers, it really depends on what type of header you want.

You can get shortys, mid lengths, or long tubes. Mids and long tubes will produce more power than shortys, but require a new y pipe. I would reccomend going the long tube route, and Jet Hot, Hooker, Pace setter are all good choices, pacesetters being the cheapest at about $280 uncoated. If you want to spend the big dollars you can get FLP's or something, but $1000 for headers is too much for my blood

Assuming you have had some kind of work done on the heads, I too, recommend going with 1.6 roller rockers. The ones I've always liked are the CompCams Pro-magnum roller rockers.

No work done on the heads as of yet the guy installing the 503
cam says that lt1 heads stock are not to bad for now and he also
sudjests that I go with 1.5 rockers. Is there any big difference between 1.6 and 1.5? Or will I just bust something by putting the 1.6 in. Maybe what your saying is that the lift is too much?

I've been running that cam with 1.6 Pro Mags for a while now, it's a fun cam. I'd go with the 1.6's if you have the right springs.

Guys are running much bigger cams with 1.6RR's You'll be fine. That is a GREAT cam. Good for stock heads and ported heads.

There is a thread within the last day or so that had a few sound clips of the 224/230. It said it right in the title.

It shouldn't take you too long to find it if you run through a few pages of posts.
