when switching to rollers do you need to use tall valve covers or will the stock ones work?

depends on wich rr you get??? the crane gold's you can reuse the stock vavle covers

 

Generally, yes. Some modifications inside the cover may be necessary, but height is usually not one of them.

 

I installed GMPP 1.6 RR's on a 95 Z and started it for the first time tonight about 10 minutes ago. I thought that the RR's might hit the valve covers but they didn't. However I am going to have to go back through them and readjust them. BAHHHH!!
