What are the cons of switching from 1.6 roller rockers to 1.6 non rollers? I've had my Hotcam kit in for about a year and have tried adjusting them a few times to quiet them down a bit but to no avail. I do know how to adjust rockers and have tried doing it with gthe engine running and with it turned off. It just seems these rollers are very loud. Just looking for some input, as I may switch, giving up a few hp for some peace and quiet.

What kind of rockers did you get? The Cranes?

You would lose horsepower obviously with a non-roller rocker because of the frictional losses.

 

Just turn up the radio....that makes my rockers quiet

 

Yeah, it's the ones that come in the Hotcam kit. I know the frictional loss would cost sopme hp and probably some higher rpm but, it would be a small marginal loss I'm assuming. Would switching to non-rollers quiet teh tapping down. I've always heard that the rollers are noticeably louder. Just want to make sure it will quiet it down. Thanks,

Isn't the hot cam a hydraulic lifter cam? So there should not be any noise. Sounds like some other problem?

 

There will still be a little noise, it shouldnt be that bad though.

 

It is a hyd cam but the noise is coming from the rockers. I have heard that the rollers are a bit noisier than non-rollers but hadn't experienced it myself until I swapped the kit. I want to hear from others that have noticed this or am I an anomally. Thanks,

Its a roller cam and yes roller rockers are louder than non-rollers.
