rocker stud ?
rocker stud ?
recently purchased a set of AFR heads and 5 k miles later, a rocker stud snapped - called AFR - they said they have had a few problems with the manufacturer of the studs and in turn, switched manufacturer - they sent me their updated rocker studs that they now use.....I do not trust them right now so I bought a set of ARP studs - the only thing i noticed is that the AFR stud has about 3 or 4 more threads at the top of the stud.....however, the base thread length is the same, the base where the rocker sits is the same, and the shank is the same length......i just want to make sure I will not have a problem using the ARP studs....
thanks
as a side bar - i was lucky that i was only cruising at 30 mph when the stud let go - i could have been on the dyno or at the track and had a catastrophic situation - i understand that defects do occur but when you spend $xxxx.xx on a set of heads, you do not really expect that to happen - they did send me the new set of studs, but would not pay any kind of labor charge for the repair - i guess performance parts are 'buy at your own risk'
