Rocker question

I apologize ahead of time if these are elementary questions. I've got a 96 Z28 with an LT1. It's basically stock. It has the stock cam. I'm looking to install 1.6 SA rockers. First question is how loud are SA rockers? I know its probably a subjective question. Is it an annoying loudness? From what I've read, I understand that I can use the stock pushrods and should install new springs. Is this correct? Are beefier rocker studs required? Is installing/removing pushrods and springs a difficult procedure? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Rocker question

since nobody who knows what they are talking hasnt responded i guess i will, what does basicly stock mean? you might want to do intake/exhaust/headers first and leave the rockers as the last bolt on. i did intake catback then rockers just because i got a realy good deal on the rockers/valvsprings/pushrods. If you decide to do it or want to know whats involved go to http://shbox.com/ci/valve_spring_swap.html shbox's site was my guide and worked out great!! Its not as difficult as it seems

Re: Rocker question

I have the Pro Magnum non-SA rockers and they're quiet. My friend is running the Crane Gold's SA and they're noisier. Neither one is too noisy. Yes you should change your springs to avoid potential coil bind with 1.6 RR's. the LT4 springs are a good value.

Re: Rocker question

SA's are supposed to be noisier than NSA. Here is a video of my engine with 1.6 NSA Pro Magnums. The SA's will be louder than this. I recommend NSA's with guideplates and hardened pushrods for a stable, quiet valvetrain.

The video picks up engine noise really good, so it's not quite as noisy as it sounds in this video but this is pretty close.
