rocker loosened up

I just put in crane gold 1.6 rockers, and set the pre-load at 1/2 turn past 0 lash. I put the locking allen wrench set screw into the poly locks, but I didn't use any thread locker. One loosened up at the track. I'm going to have to check these all sometime, but would it be advisable to use thread locker? And if yes, then on the poly lock, or on the set screw. Thanks.

The purpose of the set screw is to not have to use any thread locker. There must be some other reason it is loosening.

DONT use thread locker! Did you tighten them down pretty good while having a normal wrench on the nut so it doesnt loosen or tighten the rocker anymore?

I turned the set screw while holding the polylock with a wrench. I didn't turn it the polylock anymore after, because I heard it can break.

Ok.. My car is 45 minutes away from my house because I didn't want to drive it with the loose rocker. I'm planning on going to fix it and then drive it home. I have one question...

If I come across a broken poly lock, is it ok to throw on my stock 1.5 rocker on that one valve to drive it home?

It wouldn't be a problem ... bring a spare pushrod too in case the original has been bowed.

good luck ...

Well I made it home! It was easy to figure out which rocker it was. Very obvious just looking at the poly lock and seeing how deep the set screw was in it.

I'm going to have to order a new rocker from crane. I put a stocker on for the ride home.

I have NEVER had a rocker come loose. Set 'em once and forget 'em.

Just get 'em tight!
