Question Rocker locking screw question

Hello, Did search but-- short story version. After a couple of friends/son adjusted my Pro Mags rockers, my car kinda bucks at stop light. My son adjusted them one time and car almost stopped at lights-turn adjustment 3/4 turn.-then a friend adjusted them, now it bucks/surges a little at lights--dont know what adjustment he did. I want to do the running method. Awhile back, While it was running, I tried to bust a set screw loose, couldnt, very tight of course, afraid to force it--Can i loosen the set screws a little while it not running or will some be in a bind since each rocker is in a different position? I had zero oil sqirting out of the rockers if that matters on the present adjustment and have very little clatter- Seems like before all this i had more clatter, but no bucking at lights----Thanks for any input--Dwayne

Shoebox has a couple of methods to adjust RR's here: http://shbox.com/1/4th_gen_tech2.html#adjust_valves

The set screws take some muscle to break loose; shouldn't be an issue to loosen them either when the engine is running or not.

Thanks for your help, I was going to do that but was new at this and didnt want to break a rocker if it wasnt suppose to move when in an up or down position. im going mark the adjustment nut, start car, break loose the set screw, back off the adjustment bolt till it starts to clatter, then tighten till it quieter, then turn it an addtional 1/4 turn, tighten set screw. Yup, thats the plan. Thanks for your time./help. Dwayne

When you loosen the set screw, also loosen the adjustment nut, at the same time.. Do the same thing when you tighten them..[tighten them together] that way there shouldn't be any prob breaking the set screw loose [or with the adjustment loosening later on..] Hope this makes sense..
