Are RKSport and AS&M headers really the same????

I have read this a couple of times on here, but no one was really sure. Does anyone have know for certain? If you have either how do you like them? Have you seen both?

I was almost ready to buy some AS&M's and then I found a good deal on a set of RK's.

TIA

Header diameter and routing/bends are almost identical. The AS&M ports are more of a D-shape matching the exhaust port of the head, the RK's are more oval in shape and don't exactly match the exh. port of the head, though they don't overlap the port or appear to cause any restriction. The coating was marginally better in the AS&M but both are nice pieces. I've had both on different LT1's in the past and wouldn't hesitate to run the RK's again and save the $200.

I have really been on the fence whether to get the RK's or the MAC's.
The RK's should perform better, however I have heard that install and plug access is more difficult. Ansd of course they are cheaper at around $475.00
They say the MACS are easier to install and change plugs put wont perform as good as the RK's due to the smaller primaries. Plus they cost $620.00 Jet hot coated.
Here is somes very helpful header information links that I found. Check these out now:

Re: Are RKSport and AS&M headers really the same????

I dont have them but I know two folks who have them. Both love the RK/AS&M variation. The one went from Hookers LT's (which I bought off him) to the AS&M and said they performed better, although no times to prove it.

The other went with RK's and love them too. Plug access isnt the best, even my LT's are slighty better in that aspect, but its not like your changing them every week. I dont think that should be more than 10% of your purchase decision. If everyone wants plug access so bad get a Talon TSI so you can do them in the top of the engine in 5 minutes. I am all about power.. but each to his own.

Another one I know has MAC's and although he might be able to change his plugs easier than RK's he knows they are ultimately choking his setup compared to LT's or AS&M variants. Thats something that would be unsettling to me.

Also the price, your saving some major cash and your getting more power. I think thats a pretty good trade. Not many things offer more power for less $, usually its the other way around.

Can't say how they run, but the Rk's look really good. I started this thread plus searched around and I couldn't find anything negative so I ordered a set. Looks like it will be a little while until I can install them but I paid $450 before shipping and got a good header (in my opinion).

I don't think you can go wrong for the price.
