hey gang, how goes it???
these questions are to the people who have done a 383 buildup on their LT1.
i need to re ring several of my pistons due to washing of the cylinders when the plug wasnt firing..i didnt know untill i put a scanner on the car to see that i was not pulling on two cylinders..i tried to reseat them but no avail and now im sick of the smoke coming out from the tailpipes.
i have a set of Luntai racing pistons in there and was curious what kind of rings i should put in..i was looking at the Childs/Albert (4.030 bore with 1/16 top second ring & 3/16 bottom ring). looking for a file fit..
also..i am confused about the differences between large and normal journel sizes..my LT1 maintains the two bolt mains, never up graded to four bolt. what kind (size) of main brgs would be recommended..
the rods are 5.7" in length (Lunati). again, what brand would work here.
the car is not race driven but i like to get on it from time to time, and is only driven occasionally.

if you bored 10 over, you get 4.010 rings
bore 30 over and you get 4.030
same thing with the journal. if you crank was turned, you get oversized bearings. if not, stock size.
bearings and rings dont effect drivability (well unless they aren't working right
)
