Question rims & tires

hi guys
just wanted to ask a quick question,
i'm in the market to buy rims and tire and i see that alot of you buy 17x9.5 or17x11, if i go with 17x11's on the rear can i install
a 315 tire with out modifying the rear fender?

and second why don't alot of you guys put 18" rims for these cars?
thanks
zoso

i got 17x11's for the rear and regret it everyday. I had to add spacers or my tires would rub the inside.

I think the max on these cars would be a 10" rim without having to worry bout clearance issues. im going to get me some 18x10 next time around.

Some have said that they've fit a 315 with no mods while others have had to pound the hell out of the inner fender well.
As for your 18" question, I've heard alot of people say they decided against going with 18's because the cost of tires did not justify the gains. IMO 17's look alittle small on our rather large cars. I went with 18's and the only negative that I can think of is that the stock brakes look tiny with the 18's, especially on an LT1 car.

Just to be safe I pounded in the inner wheel-well to make sure there was enough clearance, but other than that they bolted right up.
