Reusing rings

I'm buying a set of barely used piston/rods (10 miles) and was wondering about reusing the rings. I'm guessing it'll be perfectly ok to put these in a newly machined shortblock?

IMO rings are cheap I would replace them if I where you. It would be a lot more expensive if a used ring fails.

i wouldn't do it. unless you absolutely know w/out a shadow of a doubt those rings haven't been seated yet then it'd be a good idea to buy your own. rings are pretty cheap.

If they didnt come out of your motor, do not reuse the rings. They are cheap enough to get some new ones. Im pretty sure that new cyls need new rings, but it might be the other way around.

To summarize, is it worth saving the money on rings to have a chance at low compression and a motor pull?

Even if they have less than 10 miles on them?

C'mon now....reusing rings ?
NO WAY !
These are some of the cheapest internal engine components...buy new ones.
If they even started to seat in the old block, they WILL NOT seat correctly in a freshly honed block.
Would you re-use rod or main bearings from another engine ?
I don't think so....same applies to rings.
You will hate yourself for having to tear the engine out AGAIN for skimping on this item.
DON'T DO IT !!!!

I'm not saying that I want to do it, just wondering if it was a wear problem, or what?

Forget about it. New rings will wear to the fresh honed wall surface. They can not be reused because of irregular wear characteristics.

NO!

Just seems like putting slightly used rings in a freshly machined block would seat the rings all over again.
