Replacing just the lifters

Can I pull them out with just the valve covers off.. or does the intake manifold have to come off too? I need to know before I start so I get all the gaskets I need.

Thanks
Adam

Re: Replacing just the lifters

Are you doing it for maintenance, because once you get the lifters out you might as well do rocker arms and pushrods at the very least too. You have to remove the pushrods, loosen the rocker arms, the intake manifold, the lifter spider and guides then they will just slide out. Check http://shoebox.com

I'm replacing them for maintenance as well as the push rods, but I thought the rocker arms would be fine?

Re: Replacing just the lifters

They probably will be, but why not upgrade while you have everything apart?

I'm buying wheels tommorow and this problem just came up. I got kind of limited funds, so upgrading will be later on.
