Replacement TB plate for AZS&M Monoblade?

Like it says... if you don't want to advertise for Arizona Speed & Marine on top of your 1300 cfm Monoblade throttle body, where do you go?

MBA (Mallory Billet Aluminum) seems to only have plates for stock throttle bodies, but I've seen someone else's engine equipped with a Monoblade that had a different plate. They do offer custom engraving, though.

I'd like something like "396" or "6.5L" or even "LT1", and I'll have one made if I have to. Actually, I just bought a Grizzly G1006 milling machine, so that might be a good first or second project, but it'd be nice not to add something else to the list of things I have to make myself.

Thanks!

I do believe Thunder Racing offers different TB plates from various colors to engravings.

Thanks Jim, but those are the same Mallory Billet Aluminum plates I was talking about, and they have the stock throttle body bolt pattern. The Monoblade has a different bolt pattern with the center two screws offset to the left.

Man, what an engine!

Maybe they can use your plate as a guide (or you can try sending some dimensions or something) to make one from a blank & engrave it for you.. No harm in asking!

I decided to "roll my own"...

Now... I wonder if I can carve "6.5L" in the top of another one without totally screwing up about 4 hours worth of work.

Jim,

I too had this problem and I contacted Paul Roswell at MBA (e-mail: proswell@malcams.com ). They made a TB plate to fit the AS&M throttel body for me and even custom engraved it. Paul had drawings done of the engraving and e-mailed them to me for approval prior to engraving the parts. I must say that the finished product is outstanding and Paul's customer service was top notch. It wasn't that expensive either. The total for the plate was about $80.00. I also had them make a water pump cover with custom engraving and it too is very nice. My post may be too late for you but I thought I would post in case others are looking for the same thing.

Regards,
Brian

That engine is a work of art! Is that a Hogan <--sp? racing intake? How much did it cost and what kind of gains can be obtained from it?

No problem, Brian. I may have them do one for me anyway, but I needed a good first project for my new milling machine, and figured it was better to start small. It turned out pretty good considering I've never used a mill before in my life.

Yep, Hogan's Racing. $2,850, which included the nitrous bungs and a distributor hole at the back, which it turns out I'll be using for an MSD cam sync stub to solve my ignition problems.

There are a few more images here...

Precisely how much horsepower it was worth, I'll never know, because it was a requirement for my AFR 215cc raised runner heads and hood clearance. I do know, however, that it makes good power, even with the Opti-spark crapping out...

From a fan on the RX-7 Club forum...

Jim that milling job isnt going to hack it..

Firstly that stupid plate is extra weight!
Secondly that could be done with a $20 drill and a hacksaw JUST AS WELL!

You better step it up cause that aint impresive

Hehehe Yup Paul would have cut you one.

Right now I have a "More" and "TPIS" plate on mine. My intake looks to be a little taller then yours. Might be the 18* heads

Looks like we will have to have a Kirkland Vs Redmond race hehehe
