Replacement seals while replacing clutch?

Installing a replacement clutch in my 95 Z. I was putting in a new rear main seal. It has a V shaped web on the inner diameter. It was a little hard getting that around the chamfer on the crank. I managed to wiggle it on and rubber mallet it down a little on each side. I slid a piece of thin plastic between the seal and the perimeter of the metal to make sure the inner "V seal" wasn't rolled under. However, there is a slight gap between the metal and the outside seal, maybe a 1/16" or less. Is that gap normal and will break in, or do I need to sling a new one on with a "guide"?

Also, as I was manuevering my tranny around, I noticed some of the residual ATF dripping off the input shaft. I ordered the inner seal for a replacement. Is it as simple as taking off the front cover of the T56 and sliding the new seal on, or should I expect a bunch of bushings to come "flying out" at me? In other words, should I even bother replacing it or just deal?

Thanks

Already have the clutch and bell housing in place. Was hoping for a speculation before tearing it back down.

Well, I decided to pull it all back apart and pry the new seal off. Upon inspection it was installed fine. I then tried some suggested tricks with the next seal. The gap I was concerned about is just in relation to the outer, first lip dust shield. The inner part of the seal with the spring is what really mattered. If you wiggle it on evenly with a little grease and try to hitting it flat with a mallet, it will be fine.

As to the suspected tranny leak, I thought it came off the tranny, but I think it was really oil off the floor jack. Getting that front seal in the tranny is too much of a pain; so, I just slammed it all back together.

I changed mine today and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. the old one came out easy and just use a socket the same size to put the new on it. All in all not to bad, just make sure you torgue it to 26 ft/lbs.
