Replace OPTI same time as WP?

Wanted some opinions. I need to replace my waterpump. Should I replace the OPTI distributor at same time while I have access? Or leave a good thing alone? My car has 186K on the original OPTI.

Re: Replace OPTI same time as WP?

I just replaced WP and opti on my car-I wanted to do both, so that I wouldn't have to think about it for awhile. 186k is generally considered to be a lot of miles to have on an opti, but they have lasted well beyond that for some!

If $$$ isn't an issue, replace both. Your opti is the cheaper vented version, too. You could replace the 3 front cover seals while your'e that far into it...

If you do decide to keep the opti, don't get it wet when you pull that WP off!

replace both while you're in there...it'll save you a headache later on down the road...and who knows how much further down the road you would get w/that many miles on your current opti
